The PowerWatch CI unit was created to
function as a building management system (BMS) in a box. Traditional BMS
units are custom designed, and extremely expensive. The PowerWatch CI
was devised as a cost effective proof point technology for small and
midsize commercial operation, warehouse and factory owners worried about
increasing infrastructure costs, while being able to accurately forecast
and manage cost and consumption.
Having an industrial strength application (NIMA 4x) that provides a
proof point for making changes within the infrastructure, such as
switching lighting systems, and adding de-stratification fans to make
the best use of the electrical power coming to the panel. The PowerWatch
CI unit can identify and pin point and validate claims from lighting
companies selling a 70% reduction on energy consumption to
de-stratification companies claiming an additional 33 watts per 1200 ft
will allow the process to save 30% to 50% on heating and cooling.
The statistical data in the PowerWatch CI unit allows forecasting
modeling to occur. As the cost of power increases, the building owner or
business owner can make strategic and informative business decisions
based on solid statistical and financial data. The PowerWatch CI is also
able to give accurate data on amounts of power that machines are
generating back into the grid. For example: Some machines such as larger
presses generate considerable access power during their operation that
some of this power can be stored to run lighting and other electrical
devices while sending the access power back to the grid. PowerWatch
cannot only define the amount but the costs saved as well when filing
for capital credits back at the LDC or carbon credits.
